Wenqing Yan is a Chinese American artist, environmentalist and cartoonist. Yan earned worldwide fame predominantly under the pseudonym Yuumei. 

Her most famous works include the one shot comic 1000 WORDS, the series Knite and Fisheye Placebo.[1][2]

AboutEdit

Wenqing Yan was born in Sichuan, China, on 11 May 1990. When she was nine years old, her parents divorced and she moved to America together with her mother. The rupture between mother and father had great impact on her and themes of divorce can be frequently noticed in her work. In 2008 at age 18 she enrolled in Berkeley, University of California from where she graduated in 2012 majoring in art with focus on environmentalism and cyber activism. [3]

InfluencesEdit

Yan's artistic style is largely influenced by Japanese animation films and series. For inspiration she points to UC Berkeley lectures as her main source of thought-provoking material.[4]
